KSPE 3700 Lesson Plan For Parker Mathis

Lesson Theme: Cooperative Games                    Date: 9/21/00

Materials/Equipment: 1 hula hoop, 1 ball

Teacher Goals: (The teacher will work on):
1. The teacher will work on successfully and clearly communicating instructions to the students and will get the students to repeat the rules after both instructors have clearly stated them.
2. The teacher will work on giving the students an enjoyable experience while improving psychomotor, cognitive, and affective skills (especially working together as a team)
3. The teacher will work on becoming an active participant with the students during each segment of the lesson, and will work on watching the students as they participate in the activities.

Student Prerequisite Skills: (What do the students need to know beforehand?):
1. The students need to have an understanding of space awareness.
2. The students need to follow directions and work cooperatively with a small group.
3.   The students need to have the basic skill for manipulating a ball through the legs and over the head.

Student Objectives (The Students will be able to):
Psychomotor (1): TSWBAT complete passing the ball under the legs and over the head through two separate teams of five without dropping the ball until all five students have sprinted to the front and repeated the drill in under three minutes.

Psychomotor (2): TSWBAT complete passing the hula hoop through the whole team while holding hands without breaking contact with each other in under a minute.

Cognitive: TSWBAT understand the proper technique of how to work together as a team using hula hoops by explaining why we did this cooperative game during the closure time.

Affective: TSWBAT demonstrate cooperation by following directions, having good sportsmanship, helping other classmates by encouraging, and working together as a team (class) throughout the lesson.

Student Modifications (Adjustments for low and high skilled students):
Low:  The students will work together as a whole by completing each activity with the help of other students because the two games require help from each other.

High: The students will work together as a whole by completing each activity with excellent leadership skills by directing the team and having high level skills for manipulating the ball and the hoop.

Materials/Equipment: volleyball, 2 chairs, volleyball net, tape to make lines

Teacher Goals: (The teacher will work on):
1. The teacher will work on successfully and clearly communicating instructions to the students and will get the students to repeat the rules after both instructors have clearly stated them.
2. The teacher will work on giving the students an enjoyable experience while improving psychomotor, cognitive, and affective skills (especially working together as a team)

4. The teacher will work on giving appropriate feedback to the students and also appropriate disciplinary action.

Psychomotor (1): TSWBAT complete proper stretching on 8 out of 10 skills and doing 30 out of 40 jumping jacks correctly.

Psychomotor (2): TSWBAT complete serving, setting, passing, and rotation using the proper mechanics.

Cognitive: TSWBAT demonstrate and verbalize the proper technique of setting, passing, serving, rotating, and be able to explain the rules of the game throughout the lesson.

Affective: TSWBAT demonstrate cooperation by following directions, having good sportsmanship, helping other classmates by encouraging, and working together as a team (class) throughout the lesson.

Student Modifications (Adjustments for low and high skilled students):
Low:  The students will be in ready position and will be able to work together as a team.
           Students will serve, set, pass, rotate with proper mechanics.
High: The students will be able to serve accurately and consistently.
 Students will set and pass accurately and consistently.
